Hawaii's Plantation Village in historic Waipahu is an outdoor museum that showcases the lifestyles and experience of Hawaii's plantation workers.
Furnished homes and other community structures display and interpret the history of Hawaii's multi-ethnic heritage. Plantation era art and architecture, along with awesome antiques and relics, are among the main features of the Village.
Groundbreaking took place on January 25, 1991 and Hawaii’s Plantation Village opened its doors on September 20, 1992, displaying original structures and replica homes of multiethnic groups who came to Hawaii between the mid 1800s and the 1940s to work as plantation laborers.
Visit and experience the warm and welcoming atmosphere that was part of Hawaii in the early 1900s. Guided tours are conducted at the start of each hour, Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 pm.
Waipahu Cultural Garden Park manages and operates Hawaii's Plantation Village, an outdoor historical museum, located at Waipahu Cultural Garden Park. The museum is situated on a 50-acre site just below the Oahu Sugar Mill smokestack. Special school tours, which incorporate a gallery of exhibits and hands-on activities, are offered.
